Cormac Liotta – ‘I Bought A New Pedal’ EP

Published: April 19, 2024

Los Angeles-based musician and producer Cormac Liotta unveils a fuzzy, melodic rock charm across the three-song EP, I Bought A New Pedal. Each track on the EP clocks in at around one minute in length, though leaves a strong impression in its conciseness and immediacy, reveling in a hook-forward engagement alongside debonair vocals and warming guitar progressions; it’s fun that buying a new pedal inspired such a stellar EP.

“Olive.” kicks off the EP with a hazy appeal. “You came to me in a dream last night,” the distorted vocals let out, with thumping percussion aligning with the “if only you could say something from you heart,” yearning. The suave rock sound stirs here, and the comforting textured rock of “From Horses, He Falls.” echoes the release’s evident early ’00s rock influences, like Fountains of Wayne and Jimmy Eat World. The bursting guitars within “New Pedal.” serves as a satiating finale to the EP, which consumes in its fuzzed-out immediacy.

“From Horses, He Falls.” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
