Tems is releasing her highly-awaited debut album, Born in the Wild, this May. The project is seemingly long overdue for an artist with such a massive fanbase and years of industry experience behind her.
After announcing the LP with a cinematic trailer last week, the Nigerian singer-songwriter has shared the first single, "Love Me JeJe” – the title refers to Seyi Sodimu‘s 1997 song of the same name.
"Love Me JeJe” is perfect for the summertime: upbeat, rhythmic and romantic. Tems wrote the song herself, while Spax and Guiltybeatz produced the beat.
In a recent interview with Apple Music, Tems delved into the forthcoming Born in the Wild, describing the LP as being about her upbringing and life in Lagos prior to fame.
“It was a wilderness in the environment I lived in and there's so many things that happened and so many lessons I learned to come and be this person now,” she said. “It is basically coming out of the wilderness.”
