Published: April 25, 2024

Taylor Swift proves time and time again that she is a force to be reckoned with. Earlier this week, Spotify announced that her most recent album The Tortured Poets Department is the first album in the platform's history to reach one billion streams in a single week. It hit the one billion mark a couple of days before the seven-day period and surpasses the last record, which was also held by Swift for her Midnights album.

While Spotify has not announced the specific figure that Midnight held the record for, onlookers added up the numbers made available by Spotify data and estimated the figure to be close to the 700,000s. On its first day The Tortured Poets Department surpassed 300 million streams and while overall sals and streaming figures will not be available until the end of the week, it is estimated that the album will easily surpass two million in album-equivalent units.

Taylor Swift also hits another record with the song "Fortnight" featuring Post Malone which became the most-streamed song in a single day in Spotify history on its first day of release.
