Southside Taps Destroy Lonely and Ken Carson for "President"

Published: April 26, 2024

Southside continues to prove he's tapped in with some of the biggest artists in the rap industry. Following up on recent beats for Lil Yachty ("Gimme Da Lite"), Lil Durk ("Save Me"), and his biggest hit yet with Future and Travis Scott ("Hold That Heat"), Southside linked up with Opium artists Destroy Lonely and Ken Carson for "President."

The two rappers alternate autotune-drenched verses throughout the three-minute track. "I pull up with like fifteen black trucks, I feel like the president / Two hundred and fifty thousand, yeah, that's how my day was spent," Carson slides on the first chorus, gearing up for Lone's first verse.

"I'm on tour, b*tch, but I still linked up with the X-Man / Count up money and pourin' up drank, this sh*t just like Ed and Eddy," Lonely follows up, shouting out Carson.

Southside recently contributed production to Future and Metro Boomin's WE DON'T TRUST YOU and WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU.

"President" also arrives on the heels of Carson's "overseas" single and just-announced global tour, with Lone hot off his appearance on Quavo's "Potato Loaded." Both artists are also somewhat fresh off major album releases from the latter half of 2023, pointing to Southside's ability to recognize and tap in with timely talent.
