Hot off the heels of a sold-out debut live show at Peckham Audio, and with a string of highly regarded EPs and singles, including 'Need You,' we ask Jasper Tygner to introduce himself.
My name is Jasper Tygner.
I’m from Finsbury Park, North London.
That’s a hard question, I think I sound like ME but I reckon that’s a mixture of breakbeat, ukg and some fun house tracks mixed together.
Because you want to come and see my Iive show! Music is always better live.
I think it’s ‘That’s Too Slow’, somewhere in between headphone music and the club. I’m a fan of big melodies in tracks, and select snippets of vocals with punchy drums and lots of pads. This track has all of this.
My EP ‘Real Time’ is out February 23rd on LG105, and I’m working on the next EP as we speak. Plus some collaborations with some of my favourite artists at the moment. Going to be an exciting year of releases.
It’s got to be either Jacques Greene or Ross From Friends. Both are just insane producers that delve from club to headphone music. They have catchy tracks and big club tracks, but you always know it’s one of theirs, very original.
I’ve been releasing tracks from my new EP ‘Real Time’ since the end of last year and they have been received insanely well. A number of editorial playlists and some great radio support too, but mainly I’ve had some great messages from people about the tracks which is always the most gratifying thing.
I’ve also released on Silver Bear and Shall Not Fade in the past. I think my first Silver Bear release really put me on the map and then the Shall Not Fade release 'Equals' with Joe Hertz really resonated with people.
I started producing pretty late, I got into producing at 17/18 and didn’t release anything until the first week of lockdown.
My first EP came out in 2020, I still listen to it fairly regularly but I think my style has changed since, much more clubby.
I’ve been a musician for as long as I can remember but producing has been a hobby until I released my first EP. I've DJ’d at friends' parties and for fun but only properly started playing shows just over a year ago.
Sequential Prophet-6, a subwoofer, and some kind of drum synth but I’m still figuring that one out. I’m a big fan of analog synths.
A lot of time. I worked three days a week for two years while doing music and shows on the weekends until very recently when I was able to start doing music full-time, which was a real moment. That was the goal for a long time.
I'd have to say my debut live show at Peckham Audio. The vibe in that room was unreal!!!
I have lots of shows coming up but Spotify or wherever you get your music!
'Mk.gee - CZ', it’s not dance music but it’s just too good. I come back to this track daily. The melodies and vocals and production are just too good.
I love music, dance music and performing live. I used to be a musician playing other people’s music, so to be able to play my own music in front of people is the goal!
I can play five instruments; drums, trombone, piano, percussion and some moderate bass.
I’ve had two really good bits this year!
1. Gear isn’t important, it’s all about the idea.
2. Just because someone else is doing well, that doesn’t mean you’re doing badly. I think everyone struggles with comparison and this really helped me out.
Still releasing music, working with loads of other artists and touring the world.
