He may have spoken out of turn about the future of Linkin Park a couple weeks ago , but it’s looking more and more like Orgy frontman Jay Gordon was right on the money when he said the popular nu-metal band was considering a female singer to stand in for the late Chester Bennington. At least, that’s what several sources are telling Billboard.

According to a report from the major music industry magazine, booking agency WME is currently working with Linkin Park members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Dave Farrell to shop around any interest for a potential reunion tour for 2025. Not only would such a reunion come with headlining festival dates, but those same sources apparently confirm that such a reunion would feature a woman taking Bennington’s place, though there’s no indication as to who they’re considering for the spot.

You may remember that all this falls in line with what Gordon said at the end of March during an appearance on Mike Z’s Wired In The Empire for KCAL 96.7.

“Very, very cool guys and obviously a great band. They’ve been around a long time and they’re still going for it. It’s going to be tough without Chester [Bennington], but we’ll see. I hear they got a girl singer now. That’s what I heard.”

At the time, it was seen as a massive “oopsie-daisy” — an industry term, I assure you — that didn’t take long for Gordon to walk back by claiming his statement was taken “out of context.” You know, despite there being video of him saying the thing verbatim with all the context in the world.

Couple all that with the fact that Evanescence’s Amy Lee felt compelled to shoot down rumors that she was the woman involved with Linkin Park’s potential reunion run, and you’ve got a whole hell of a lot of smoke that might just lead to a big reunion-sized fire.

Despite all this, Shinoda was recently asked about a potential reunion by Revolver and he was pretty adamant that people will just have to wait and see if anything happens in the future.

“Rumors always go around. People always ask what’s next for the band, and the best answer I can ever give anybody is when there’s something to tell you, we will tell you. When there’s an announcement to be made, it will be on LinkinPark.com. If you’re hearing it from somebody else, you can trust that information as much as you want to trust it.”
