First recorded by Nat King Cole in 1961, "The Rules of the Road" remains one of the most beloved tunes in the Notable catalog. Co-written by the legendary team of Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh, the sultry "Rules" has been covered over the years by such luminaries as Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney, Shirley Horn, Lena Horne, Bobby Short, Buddy Greco, and Anita O'Day. In 2009 Nikka Costa recorded this soulful reading, arranged and produced by Dave Palmer, for the tribute album “The Best Is Yet To Come: The Songs of Cy Coleman” - instantly making it her own.
