EDMONTON, Canada – From the heart of downtown Edmonton to your living room, earbuds or car radio, join the celebration at the 2018 Grey Cup Festival with Global Edmonton, 630 CHED, Global News Radio 880 Edmonton, 103.9 CISN Country, and 92.5 The ‘CHUCK. The five-day celebration runs from Wednesday, November 21 to Sunday, November 25, with Corus’ Edmonton brands joining forces to showcase Festival City.
“The Grey Cup Festival brings fans from across the country together to celebrate this very Canadian tradition,” said Kenton Boston, Vice President of News and Information for Western Canada at Corus Entertainment. “Our stations are proud to stand with Edmontonians to create a memorable experience as host city for one of the greatest events in professional sport.”
For the run of the festival, the 630 CHED Information Centre will act as the central hub, where fans can learn about events on festival grounds and around the city. The Centre will host daily 630 CHED live broadcasts, and have a 24-hour eye-cam of the festival grounds, streaming live on Globalnews.ca. Fans will also have the opportunity to interact with hosts from 630 CHED and Global Edmonton at the Information Centre, with meet-and-greets throughout the week.
Global Edmonton is taking its newscasts on the road broadcasting live from the Grey Cup Festival, with anchors Gord Steinke and Nancy Carlson on site for Global News Hour at 6 on Thursday, November 22. Weekend Global News Morning anchors, Kent Morrison and Kevin O’Connell, will also be live from festival grounds on Saturday, November 24 starting at 7 a.m. MT. Later that day, Global Edmonton provides the official live broadcast of the CN Grey Cup Parade at 12 p.m. MT, hosted by Kent Morrison and Sports Anchor Quinn Phillips.
Sunday, November 25 is game day, kicking off with the Boston Pizza Outdoor Tailgate Party presented by Global News. Then, 630 CHED hypes up the fans with pre-game coverage at 2 p.m. MT with Sports Anchors Morley Scott and Dave Campbell delivering the lowdown on the culmination of the CFL season.
Finally, country fans can end the Grey Cup Festival weekend by joining CISN Country 103.9 at Cook County Saloon for the Official Grey Cup After-Party, featuring The Reklaws. Watch for the street team at the 630 CHED Information Centre for your chance to win tickets to the event.
