It's not that hard to figure out Orville Peck's real identity, especially for those who used to live in a certain Canadian city and go see the shows of a certain local punk band. But, since unveiling his country persona, the songwriter has kept his face hidden behind a fringed mask — until now.
On Instagram, Peck posted a photo of himself in his usual country garb, with a denim short-sleeve shirt and a cowboy hat. Conspicuously absent, however, is his fringed mask. Instead, he has his cowboy hat pulled low, with a Batman-esque brown mask over his eyes.
It's not quite a full-blown identity reveal, but still — it's the most of his face he's ever shown in public since he's been known as Orville Peck. See the photo below.
In a 2019 cover story, Peck told Exclaim! about his choice to wear a mask, "It's not about anonymity or mystery. I think the biggest misconception is that I do it as a gimmick."
