We’re nearly to the purported September 1 drop date for the highly-anticipated OFF-WHITE x Nike Jordan 1 sneakers. The shoe combines Virgil Abloh’s penchant for deconstruction and typeface graphics with the perennially cool high-top silhouette.
It’s especially appropriate that the white and red upper channels the classic “Chicago” Jordan 1 colorway, which is also being revisited in the upcoming “Homage to Home” sneakers pairing it with the equally iconic “Banned” colorway. The sneakers also come with four sets of laces: black, white, lime green, and orange. Each has “SHOELACE” in quotes printed on it.
Other touches of Abloh’s design philosophy can be seen in the bricolage-esque approach to the Swoosh construction, as well as the OFF-WHITE zip tie attached to the shoe’s collar. Even the box the shoes come in mirrors the deconstructionist approach to the sneakers, with the entire box turned inside-out resulting in a plain cardboard on the outside and nods to the classic Jordan shoebox on the inside.
We got a closer look at the kicks themselves, so check out our gallery above to see all the details.
