Not content to let people forget that the American mid-west is death metal as fuck, Ohio’s own 200 Stab Wounds are back with a new single “Hands of Eternity”, along with the announcement that their sophomore album Manual Manic Procedures is coming this June.
Set for release on June 28, Manual Manic Procedures looks to be a dripping slab of nine new tracks from the incredibly brutal Cleveland-based band. And after listening to “Hands of Eternity”, it sounds like they won’t have to worry about failing to live up to their bombastic debut Slave To The Scalpel.
Speaking of the new track, vocalist/guitarist Steve Buhl said “Hands of Eternity” was chosen as the album’s introduction to the world because of its musical themes and structure.
“That song is a good example of where we want to go musically. The heavy riffs are there, but there’s still a lot of good melody. It’s not just crazy fucking blast beats and, ‘riff riff riff.’ It’s more structured, groovy, and melodic, but still heavy. That’s one of my favorites.”
As for the album itself, Buhl said everything from the gory cover art to the entire track list was created to show they weren’t fucking around when they were writing the damn thing.
“I’ll feel what kind of vibe the song has, and what topic would fit for that particular song. The last song on the new record, ‘Parricide,’ is about someone going into a nursing home, and just blowing it up. The lyrics are about those type of corporations that don’t really give a fuck about those people. It’s all just a money grab.”
Manual Manic Procedures will be released on June 28 via Metal Blade Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
Starting tomorrow, the band will also head out on a long run of tour dates supporting Dying Fetus. You can check out the full list of tour dates they have on their docket below.
