UK guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Will Newman impresses on new track “Bite My Lip,” touting an aesthetic that successfully merges several stylistic influences. There’s a shoegaze-y feel apparent in the gliding guitars and serene vocals, while still retaining a clear-sounding mode of production and contagious melody — aesthetically comparable to Wild Nothing, The War on Drugs, and The Radio Dept., the latter comparison especially evident during the “picture on my phone,” interlude. Newman’s vocals are accompanied reflectively by Sophia Lyons here, adding depth to the already-engrossing soundscape. Chilled-out, good vibes tend to be a staple of Newman’s material. We look forward to hearing more from Will and his new EP, out later this year.
