Semantics – “Acid Test”

Published: August 21, 2017

Birmingham-based post-punk act Semantics remind of Wild Beasts in style, with new track “Acid Test” showcasing a hypnotic post-punk rhythm/guitar arsenal in addition to the quivering nonchalance of the vocals. “Wrap your kisses in a plastic box and put a bow on the top, so I can hold you close to my heart,” the vocals sing during the hook, the tinge of Morrissey in the vocal croon apparent. The act, formed in August of 2014, released “Acid Test” as the first single from their next EP, which follows their 2016 debut and a successful run of shows, including support slots with bands such as The Vryll Society, Holy Esque and Field studies.
