Check Out Chicago’s New Music Venue, Outset

Published: April 24, 2024

Auris Presents is gearing up to welcome guests into Outset, a new music venue in Chicago’s Lincoln Yard opening its doors this June.

Owned by Nick Karounos, Stuart Hackley and John Curley, Auris is the mastermind behind the nighttime hotspot Radius, which boasts a capacity of around 5,800 guests. They also own and operate the comparably mid-size 1,490-capacity Concord Music Hall.

With Outset, Auris is scaling it down without compromising on acoustics or ambiance. The venue will fit around 750 attendees for each show. Along with a more reduced capacity, a wrap-around stage and balcony design is conducive to cultivating an intimate showtime experience, giving every concert-goer a premium view of the stage.

As for the audio, Outset has a D&B XSL system, engineered by the German-based D&B Audiotechnik.

“For us, music is how we make memories,” co-founder Hackley said. “We’re excited to bring more experiences, artists, and moments to life as we add to the fabric of Chicago’s musical landscape for decades to come.”

Outset has already released its initial show calendar, kicking off on June 1 with a performance from Parliament Funkadelic. Future performances throughout the summer Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Pussy Riot, Conway the Machine, Dorian Electra and more.
