Another artist has parted ways with Cash Money Records. Singer Jay Sean has split with the label, six years after signing with the home of Lil’ Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and others back in 2008.

Continue after the jump…..

The British-native has released two albums under the label in 2009s All or Nothing and 2013s Neon.

Ending amicably, Jay Sean spoke with Billboard on leaving and maintaining a relationship with label CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams. I had and still maintain a great relationship with [Cash Money CEOs] Slim and Baby. They believed in me and my talent and our partnership obviously garnered a lot of pop success. Aiming for pop success took its toll, as the 33-year-old wants to return to his R&B roots.

Jay Sean joins a list that includes Busta Rhymes and Mystikal who have left the label this year. Another artist possibly adding to that list is Tyga, who earlier this month vented frustrations with YMCMB. Now independent, Jay Sean also debuts the video for his new song Tears in the Ocean, off his upcoming Mistress II mixtape, below.
