Twitter Erupts In Debate After Kodak Black Abruptly Ends Interview Over Sexual Assault Question

Published: December 13, 2018

We’d like to first start off by saying we know what you’re thinking: How Sway? How can the internet be divided when it comes to accusations of rape and sexual assault?

We’re confused too, but these are indeed the times we are living in. On Wednesday, a huge debate erupted on Twitter after Miami-bred rapper Kodak Black abruptly ended his interview on Hot 97 due to questions about his impending sexual assault case.

ICYMI, Black joined hot97’s ‘Ebro in the Morning’ to promote his upcoming album. During the interview, host Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez touched on a variety of topics surrounding the Florida rappers music, his come up in the music industry, Cardi B’s ‘Bodak Yellow’ and more. Things then took a turn when Ebro mentioned the severity of the impending criminal charges the rapper faces and offered him the opportunity to return and discuss at a later date. Black however threatened to leave.

“I feel like sometimes when niggas like me going through shit, y’all be entertained by bullshit.. Change the subject or I’m finna walk out,” Kodak said before walking out. “Alright, I’m gone.”

Twitter immediately blew up with fans choosing a side.

Big ups, oldmanebro. This is the work and we must continue to address sexual violence directly and publicly in the company of other men. The burden of accountability starts with us, “said one fan of the radio vet.

Another follower questioned, “People mad at Ebro for doing what interviewers do? And not Kodak for being a rapist?,” while another said, “When people are more upset at Ebro than sexual assault …”

Meanwhile Lawrence Bunny took it a step further questioning if Ebro was white would Kodak have reacted in the same manner.

“I wholeheartedly think if Ebro was some white person working for CNN and asked the same question, ppl would have a completely different reaction. But since he is also of the culture, there’s an expectation of him to be more lenient. We gotta do a LOT better.”

Others however were furious with Ebro for asking the question and called him a clown.

“Ebro started off that Kodak Black interview a little hostile. He knew Kodak couldn’t talk about an open case and just wanted to score some woke points,” said one follower.

“If he doesn’t support abusers then why on the earth that god created with his two hands… did he have him on the show????????? No, Ebro wants views, he doesn’t care THAT deep, and he’s a whore in my book just because of that,” said another.

Rappers Tory Lanez and Trick Daddy even took up for Kodak. “You knew he had nothing to say. That’s what makes it some b*tch ass n***a shit”, said Lanez.

Trick Daddy weighed in with a much harsher response. In a video uploaded to Instagram, Trick calls Ebro a “fake ass Charlamagne,” making reference to Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club” host Charlamagne Tha God.

Ebro also took to Twitter and addressed the issue.

As previously reported, the Dying to Live rapper’s sexual assault case trial has been set to begin in April 2019. Back in February of 2016, Kodak was accused of pinning down, bitting and raping the alleged victim in a hotel in Florence, S.C.
