As millions flocked to social media to remember the great late Doctor Martin Luther King Jr, celebrities flocked to Pasadena, California for the 49th annual NAACP Image Awards.
Hosted by Anthony Anderson, the awards show was nothing short of inspiring as many stars used the national platform to speak out on creating change. It was also a big night for films such as Girls Trip and Get Out, both of which gained major recognition.
Daniel Kaluuya picked up an award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture, meanwhile Girls Trip snagged the award for Outstanding Motion Picture. On Sunday night, during the non-televised pre-show gala, Get Out’s Jordan Peele took home the Image Award for Writing and Directing.
Tracee Ellils Ross, clad in a Narciso Rodriguez gown, took home the Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in ABC’s black-ish, as her co-star, Anthony Anderson, won for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series.

Taraji P. Henson is on a roll (pun intended) with her list of accolades — as the star continues her press tour for her new film, Proud Mary, the beauty also happened to pick up an Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Cookie Lyon on Fox’s, Empire.
