You Have To Hear Alessia Cara And Zedd’s New Song “Stay”

Published: February 23, 2017

Alessia Cara and Zedd have found chart success thanks to their solo endeavours, but now the pair is teaming up for the new single “Stay” and we’re calling it—the track is a banger.

EDM mastermind Zedd crafts a backbeat that features dancehall influences along with electro lifts and falls, sparingly using a vocal synthesizer on Cara’s vocals to create an added layer. As for Cara, her earnest vocals are a perfect fit for the emotional lyrics, with the Canadian singing, “All you have to do is stay a minute/Just take your time/The clock is ticking, so stay.”

The pair chose the California desert as the backdrop to their lyric video, with an official music video hopefully not far off.

Zedd has previously enjoyed huge success on the charts with female vocalists, including “Stay The Night” with Haley Williams, “Starving” with Hailee Steinfeld, “Break Free” with Ariana Grande and “I Want You To Know” with former girlfriend Selena Gomez.

As for Cara, she’s been dipping her toes in the duet world, appearing on JoJo’s 2016 album Mad Love and remixing Troye Sivan’s “Wild.”

Zedd and Alessia Cara’s “Stay” is the second surprising duet of the week, with Coldplay and The Chainsmokers shocking the crowd at yesterday’s Brit Awards (watch the show again here). The two groups appeared on stage at the 02 Arena in London to debut their new collaboration “Something Just Like That.”

Alessia Cara is scheduled to attend the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday, March 5. Cara is up for two awards this year, including Best New Pop Artist and Best Lyrics for her inspiring single “Scars To Your Beautiful.”

The 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards will feature performances from Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Big Sean, The Chainsmokers, Shawn Mendes and more. Watch the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards live on CTV TWO on Sunday, March 5 at 8 p.m. ET.
