It’s the remix that we didn’t see coming, but we’re so happy that it’s here.
Sisqo has made a comeback from, actually we don’t know where he’s been for the last two decades, but he’s back and he’s re-released his famous “Thong Song” track with a whole new beat. Much like the original version of the “Thong Song,” the new remix is an obvious smash. We don’t know why we like it, but damn, that Sisqo is devilish.
If you turned on the radio at any point in 2000 there was a good chance you were inundated with Sisqo’s praising of dumps like a truck (truck, truck). The “Thong Song” was released on December 31, 1999 and went on to score four Grammy nominations and peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, eventually winning the MTV Video Music Award for Best Hip Hop Video. Since its release, Sisqo told Buzzfeed that he’s had many request to remix and re-release the hit song, but it wasn’t until hearing JCY’s version of the “Thong Song” this year that he decided the time was right. Giving the most Sisqo answer we could hope for, the singer said “I’ve been asked so many times over the years to make a new version of ‘Thong Song’ and I have declined every time until I heard the new version that JCY did. I thought it was dope and figured maybe it was time to put some new rims on the Bugatti.”
The group recorded the song together and recently shot a video, though Sisqo was forced to leave his levitating in 2000 due to three broken ribs. Still, there’s no shortage of thongs this time around as well. That ish so scandalous.
