Hands down, one of the best scenes from this past season’s Orphan Black has got to be when Alison and Donnie twerk on a pile of money and glitter in their bedroom. For those who haven’t seen that episode yet, we won’t spoil the plot for you (but we will ask: why aren’t you caught up yet?!) but last week on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, star Tatiana Maslany gave fans some brand new details about shooting that memorable scene.
“We had one day in a parking lot between takes, just kind of been dancing around to some music on an iPod and the creator of our show saw us doing this and was, like, ‘Oh, we have to put that in the show,'” Maslany explains, of the scene’s origins. “We got there on the day and we had 15 minutes to shoot it, everybody was exhausted, there were 40 men looking at their watches, ready to go home, and [Donnie Hendrix played by Kristian Bruun] and I had to take off all of our clothes and get busy on the bed.”
While the scene definitely paid off, Maslany admits that she and Bruun spent days and weeks afterwards finding pieces of glitter, little dollar sign pieces of glitter to be exact, on their bodies. It’s okay, Tat, we’ve all been there before!
