The 2018 Brit Awards nominations were announced this weekend and Dua Lipa is making her own new rules. The London-born singer made history this year with an incredible five nominations, making her the first solo female to ever earn five nods in a single year. Yeah, that’s more than Adele. Understandably, the 22-year-old is slightly freaking out.
Lol how is this real

Thanks to her huge 2017 single “New Rules” from last year’s self-titled album, Lipa scored nominations for British Breakthrough Act, British Female Solo Artist, British Album of the Year, and British Artist Video of the Year and British Single for “New Rules.”
Behind Lipa is Ed Sheeran, who also enjoyed a massive 2017 with his third album Divide, with the lead single “Shape of You” up for British Single and British Artist Video of the Year. Sheeran is also nominated for British Album of the Year and British Male Solo Artist. Close behind Sheeran are J Hus and Rag ‘N’ Bone Man, who both earned three nominations each.
The British Artist Video of the Year has three former members of One Direction going head to head, with Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne scoring solo nominations for a show they dominated as a boy band.
Two Canadian acts earned Brit Award nominations this year, Drake for International Male Solo Artist and Arcade Fire for International Group.
The 2018 Brit Awards will take place at the 02 Arena in London on Wednesday, February 21 and will be hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall.
