Calvin Harris, Frank Ocean And Migos Drop Summery Single ‘Slide’

Published: February 24, 2017

It’s still February, but it seems like Calvin Harris has been inspired by the warm winter weather. The Scottish DJ enlisted the help of Frank Ocean and Migos for his summery new single “Slide,” and now all we need is the beach and a towel.

Harris has been teasing the song on social media all week, finally dropping “Slide” early this morning and giving listeners the perfect song to play into the weekend.

The collaboration opens with a sweet piano run before dropping into a Skrillex-inspired beat. Ocean’s trademark relaxed vocals vibe perfectly with the smooth beat, with “Slide” acting as his first new piece of music since dropping 2016’s highly anticipated Blonde.

As for Migos, the hip hop group got a huge boost following Donald Glover’s win at the Golden Globes, where he called the trio the “Beatles of this generation” during his acceptance speech for Best Actor. Members Quavo and Offset are listed as writers Harris and Ocean, with all three members bringing their coined Atlanta party vibes to the track.

“Slide” is the third huge collaboration to drop this week. On Wednesday, Coldplay and The Chainsmokers appeared together on stage at the 02 Arena in London to debut their new collaboration “Something Just Like That”. Staying in the EDM world, Zedd and Alessia Cara revealed their new track “Stay” yesterday, with all three songs likely to dominate the charts in the coming months.

With Beyoncé’s announcement yesterday that she is pulling out of her headlining spot of Coachella because of her pregnancy, we think that Frank Ocean would be an ideal choice to fill in for Queen Bey. Why not invite former Coachella headliner Calvin Harris along for the set to perform the new single as well?
