Arcade Fire Will Take The JUNOs Stage In March

Published: February 23, 2018

Canadian alt-rock legends Arcade Fire will travel to Vancouver this March to perform live on the JUNO stage on Sunday March 25. The group is nominated for four JUNO awards this year, including Album of the Year and Alternative Album of the Year for Everything Now. Everything Now’s eponymous track is nominated for Single of the Year, and they’re also up for Group of the Year against fellow Canadian heavyweights A Tribe Called Red, Alvvays, and Broken Social Scene.

The band has already managed to rack up eight JUNO Awards (plus one Grammy and two Brit Awards) over the course of their career, and with four nominations this year it’s likely that they’ll be able to add another prize or two to their impressive resumé. On March 17, about a week before the JUNO Awards, the band is set to perform on Saturday Night Live alongside host Bill Hader.

Arcade Fire will also receive the JUNO International Achievement Award at the JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards on March 24. It’s an exclusive honour that, thus far, has only been gifted to six other artists (Bryan Adams, Alanis Morissette, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Sarah McLachlan, and Drake) and credits Canadian musicians who have managed to obtain success and recognition not just in Canada but around the world. Before Drake received the International Achievement Award in 2017, the prize hadn’t been given out since 2000—maybe the JUNO’s two-year streak means that the International Achievement Award will once again become a regular thing moving forward.

Fellow 2018 JUNO nominees Daniel Caesar and Jessie Reyez are also slated to perform at the 2018 JUNO Awards ceremony, hosted by Canadian crooner Michael Bublé.
