Charlotte Day Wilson, "Find You"

One of the breakout talents of BADBADNOTGOOD's latest album, Toronto singer and multi-instrumentalist Charlotte Day Wilson has announced her debut EP. Watch closely, rarely do you get to catch the birth of a star. "Find You" is rapturous — a buttery R&B slow jam pulled by the tremendous gravity of Day Wilson's burning voice. How big will it grow? - Chris Hampton

Charlotte Day Wilson's CDW is out August 26.

Mac Miller feat. Anderson .Paak, "Dang!"

"Dang!" is clearly more influenced by the featured artist than the main one, and that's a good thing. This funky summertime groove is pure Anderson .Paak, and Mac Miller perfectly rides the wave. Over a bouncy Kaytranada-esque bassline, jazzy keys, and a timeless horn section (apparently courtesy of Juillard kids .Paak recruited), the two put on a clinic of flow-first hip-hop. Mac Miller's just-announced new album also features Kendrick Lamar and Robert Glasper, so it seems he's the latest entering the neo-jazz-rap revival. It looks surprisingly good on him. - Richard Trapunski

Mac Miller's new album, The Divine Feminine, is out September 16. Get it any of these places.

The Medicine Hat, "St. Cecilia"

YouTube Video

"'St. Cecilia' is a song for all the men who have ever harassed me." says Nabi Sue Bersche, singer of the Hamilton-based pop group The Medicine Hat. "It's a song for all the long stares and salacious grins, all the licked-lips and hey-sweethearts, all the shadows that walk a little too close behind me. It's about the thick skin I put on when I walk alone or I'm on stage. I love the power of that skin, but I hate that I need to be tough to feel safe."

The song is a dance-punk lament, both tender and strong, remembering the kind person Bersche had to abandon to become the person who could survive. "St. Cecilia is my constant companion," she continues. "The patron Saint of music, she's with me in every dark bar, on every walk home. Watching my drink, watching my back, whispering a sweet melody in my ear." - Chris Hampton
