The late fashion designer Alexander McQueen was known for his awe inspiring runways, pushing the barriers of the fashion world and being unapologetically himself. But, the man behind the brand was very private. The fashion world reeled from his untimely death in 2010 and never truly recovered. Now, nearly eight years later his family and colleagues are opening about Lee Alexander McQueen in the documentary, McQueen.
The film made its Canadian debut at Hot Docs earlier this year where directors Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui spoke to Brigitte Truong about how they reconciled the man with the brand in this incredibly moving film.
McQueen is currently playing at the Ted Rogers Hot Docs Cinema in Toronto, it will expand to other Canadian cities throughout the summer. Be fierce, dress well and take a box of tissues to the theatre.
