Have you ever watched a magician perform and wondered how they did it? So have we, and we here at andPOP have also figured it out thanks to the Champions of Magic. The secret? MAGIC.
Don’t believe us? A few weeks ago, we wouldn’t have either but, then we saw it happen before our very eyes. Master Mind Reader (yes, that is a real job) Alex McAleer made believers of us all – especially resident skeptic @BrigitteTruong when he and fellow magician Richard Young (one half of the magical duo Young & Strange) stopped by andPOP HQ.
The pair are just two of the five magicians performing in Champions of Magic. The live show features close up magic from Kayla Drescher, Houdini-esqe escapes by Fernando Velasco, mind reading from Alex McAleer and grand scale illusions from Young & Strange.
The show originated in England, where it amazed crowds in London’s West End, and is currently on tour in North America. The traveling show makes its way to Toronto just in time for the holidays. Catch the Champions of Magic at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts from December 19th to January 6th.
