Sleep Releases New Song The Clarity

Published: July 21, 2014

It’s been a long time since Sleep released any new music. A really long time. It’s been even longer since the band actually wrote and recorded any new music, but that’s a story for another time. To put it in perspective, it’s been even longer than it’s been since Tool released anything. In spite of their 2009 reunion and the occasional gigging the group has done since, new studio material hadn’t surfaced from the band until now.

A brand new single titled The Clarity, part of Adult Swim’s singles program, appeared on the internet last week. Fans can listen to it on SoundCloud with the handy player found below, or they can wait the time it takes to download the single here (because really, what’s another few seconds at this point?). It’s a classic Sleep tune, nearly ten minutes long and as slow and jammy as can be. The production is cleaner than anything the band has released before, but with the band members currently operatingabove the shaky financial stability that was onceexpected from them. No news on an entire full-length has been disclosed, but with new material being released this month fans can at least hold out a little more hope.
