And Your 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Are…

Published: December 16, 2014

The anticipation leading up to the latest Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction list may not have been as strong as the previous year, but it is holding some weight today. The Hall of Fame announced its inductees for the 2015 ceremony this morning, topping off with Lou Reed, Joan Jett, and Green Day.

The full list continues with Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Double Trouble, Bill Withers and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, and a special Award for Musical Excellence to Ringo Starr. The innovative 50’s R&B group The “5” Royales will also receive the Early Influence award during the ceremony set to take place in Cleveland on April 18th of next year.

Notables missing from the list are Nine inch Nails, who came second in the fan poll this year. War, Sting, Kraftwerk, the Smiths, and even N.W.A. also had hope for top spots in 2015 but fell short. Some may not be seen as huge upsets, but we imagine that the Nine Inch Nails crowd is not too happy that Green Day received the honor in their first year of eligibility while NIN did not. We don’t predict that Trent Reznor is too concerned however. After the Grammys flub, it is likely that the musician cares very little about big award ceremonies. There’s always hope for next year though if you might have a little more appreciation for these events than Reznor.

And if you’re interested in seeing it all for yourself, the induction ceremony is open to the public; tickets will go on sale this Thursday at 10am. No official word on the broadcast has been made, but if years past are any indication, you can probably expect to catch it all on HBO next summer.
