LISTEN! to the Weirdo End Time Heartache of Jimmy Whispers’ “(Summer in Pain)”

Published: January 28, 2015

So Jimmy Whispers, huh? Okay. Good name. A little porny in a Hubert Selby Jr. dream of Brooklyn’s once violently beautiful decay kinda way but this kid’s from Chicago and is a shad shaggier in his honeydew blonde than The Queen of the Bennies but I can’t and won’t hold that against him because I was a blonde baby, myself and the Queen, as we all know, is dead. So what the hell with this cat? Who knows? Something about casios in red dresses and a yen for basketball. A modern art bias. Bubble baths. This…um…jam? Is this a jam? It might be. It’s melodious in it’s way like a Gary Wilson mannequin serenade or a broke-winged Babybird or a love song scratched in circles after three days of stark-raving wakefulness. I really cant’s say but I can tell you it’s the title track (albeit parenthetical) off Mr. Whispers’ (is it fair to call you that?) upcoming LP Summer in Pain (out 3/24 on Moniker) and you can stream it below if ya need to be in the know and I kinda think you do. Rockit.
