Luca Brasi Have Slammed Shitty Crowd Behaviour At Their Sydney Show

Published: August 20, 2018

Luca Brasi have spoken out against dangerous fan behaviour they witnessed at their Sydney show last Friday, slamming the disruptive audience members as “ropehead fucks”.

The Tasmanian outfit released a statement on Twitter and Instagram last night, writing that there were certain members of the crowd at Sydney’s Manning Bar on Friday whose behaviour “made people feel unwelcome and unsafe.”

“Dancing around and singing along always makes for awesome vibes,” they wrote. “Shoving people and knocking them to the ground DOES NOT.”

“We’ve been through shit too many times and it’s not why we want to play shows. Consideration for how you occupy space at shows, and showing respect for your audience mates, will make for a better experience for everyone. Failure to do so will see you removed from the show.”

They advised fans to look out for each other, and report any shitty behaviour they see in the crowd.

“And if you ropehead fucks kook it up one more time,” they finished. “I’m going to shove my Les Paul so far up your ass that Gibson will try and turn your Adam’s apple into robot tuners.”

Their statement echoes that of Melbourne’s Smith Street Band, who cancelled a show last year after learning of an alleged sexual assault that took place in the crowd at a previous gig. Frontman Wil Wagner wrote at the time that because of the consistent crowd issues the band experience, it might be a while before they perform live again.

“I’ve been playing shows for about ten years now,” Wagner wrote. “Anyone who’s seen me perform a few times over that journey knows how seriously I take this and how much it fucking kills me.

“I stopped talking about crowd behaviour as much because I learnt that telling people what to do doesn’t work at all. If anything, pointing out people being dickheads in the crowd only makes them and their mates act worse.”

Wagner finished by writing that he “didn’t want to be a part of it anymore”.

It’s really not that hard everyone: just keep your hands to your fucking selves. Luca Brasi’s tour continues this Thursday in Adelaide, and then Friday in Melbourne.
