From the minute the ball dropped on New Year's Day, 2024 has felt more like 1906 — not saying it feels like the 1900s again, but rather New Balance's 1906R sneaker is claiming the year as its own. The sneaker's design alone entices sneaker lovers to treat their feet to a breathable Y2K-worthy fit. Then, the New Balance model's flawless colorways seal the deal on copping altogether.

Advancing the New Balance's 1906R stunning run, retailer Footpatrol enters the chat with its own gorgeous take on the buzzy model. And let's just say: it has me thinking that having the blues is a good thing, colorway-wise.

A medley of beautiful blue shades takes over New Balance 1906R's techy upper, with the stunning hues even decorating the breeze-welcoming mesh foundation. The 1906R's chunky sole — pumped with the usual cushy compression support — is then topped with pleasing beige and rust red shades.

Altogether, the summer-worthy color melange feels like a pleasing trip at sea. At the same time, Footpatrol's Luke Matthews capped off the reveal of the New Balance shoe with an X-ray emoji, suggesting the attractive scheme is inspired by the blueish glows of your results from the doctor. I see the vision.

Either way, Footpatrol made a blue New Balance 1906R banger.

Footpatrol has dished out New Balance collaborations previously, spinning models like the 1500 and 576 to understated perfection. The New Balance 1906R sneaker is a Footpartol exclusive colorway, meaning it will only be available at the UK retailer when drops (P.S. Matthews says the launch will be going down "very soon").

Footpatrol holds down the fort for retailer sneaker collaborations, which have been quite good here lately. Shoe Palace just cooked up fiery New Balance 2002R, and size?'s sprung into spring with gorgeous tonal 1906R sneakers.

I can't say I'm surprised that stockists hip to all things sneakers are designing some of the best shoes, but it is nice to see.
