NEWS TALK 770 MORNING HOST BRUCE KENYON ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT

CALGARY, June 2, 2017 – After a brilliant career, broadcast legend Bruce Kenyon is retiring as morning show personality at News Talk 770 this summer. A true icon in the west, Kenyon’s big voice, outstanding wit, and insatiable curiosity has been a staple in Canadian radio for more than 40 years. Listeners can look forward to a special good-bye show airing later this August, providing listeners with a chance to say farewell to the beloved host.

“To say listeners will miss Bruce would be a huge understatement. Bruce has been such an integral part of the radio station for more than 17 years” said John Vos, Director of Talk & Talent, CHQR. “Our audience loves Bruce and he’s been key to paving a bright new future for News Talk 770.  Listeners can stay tuned for exciting news on a new host coming soon.”

Kenyon started his career in Peterborough, Ont. as an operator in 1975 and worked his way up to become a regular host at their Country and Top 40 music stations. He later moved to Edmonton, A.B. where he was part of the legendary launch of K-97 and was even the voice of the “Flying Tiger” during traffic reports. In the late 1980’s he had a brief stint in Montreal, before returning to Edmonton’s K-97. In 2000, he came to Calgary on QR77 (now News Talk 770) before taking on a morning host role on the popular Q107 rock station. Switching back from rock to talk a few years later, Kenyon rejoined the News Talk 770 team and has been filling the morning airwaves ever since.

“I first got into radio because I loved music, but the job became much more than that,” said Bruce Kenyon, Host of Morning News.” I’ve been so lucky to have worked in four different markets and in three different provinces throughout my career. I’ve met a lot of great people along the way and have enjoyed all of it.”

Stay tuned for an announcement on a new Morning News host coming soon. In the meantime, you can still listen to the Morning News with Bruce Kenyon airing from 5:30-9:30 a.m. MT or visit newstalk770.com for more details.
