Twin Cisterns is the solo moniker of Chris Tenerowicz, one of many players in the ever-shifting Self Defense Family. On March 31, Bad Paintings Records will release Cloudspiller, Tenerowicz’s four-song EP that follows his previous cassette-only release. Below, The A.V. Club is premiering the whole thing, which sees Tenerowicz channeling his most meditative moments with Self Defense Family and quieting them down. Instead of tense post-hardcore, Cloudspiller is built on tranquil acoustic guitar and a more delicate approach. Taken in full, the EP shows Tenerowicz’s ability to make music that feels like a film score, condensed until it is its most potent and affecting.
