Despite only forming last year, Dismal sound remarkably assured for such a relatively young band. After releasing an utterly filthy demo back in March, this new self-titled EP is a big step forward for the band; drawing influence from sludge legends like Grief, Noothgrush and Toadliquor, the quintet’s murky, nihilistic sound sounds even nastier this time round, and the three weighty tracks that comprise this EP could completely flatten you if you’re not careful.
