Doom trio Coltsblood and UK black metallers Ninkharsag will be heading out on a UK tour together in March. Supports differ from date to date, but with the likes of Nolti Nan Gana Nan Nolta, Arke, Slaughter Throne and many more all on board, you can’t go wrong really!
2013 was a great year for Coltsblood; after releasing their absolutely crushing demo ‘Beyond The Lake Of Madness’ back in June (which was later reissued on vinyl by Ulthar Records), the three piece teamed up with fellow doomsayers Crypt Lurker for a UK tour and a devastating split cassette, in which Coltsblood contributed the colossal ‘Consumption’ in addition to a pulverising cover of Celtic Frost’s classic ‘Procreation (Of The Wicked)’. To top it all off, the band landed a highly sought after support slot for Watain‘s UK jaunt, allowing them to bring their eerie doom invocations to a much wider audience in the process.
Coltsblood have been continuing this upwards trajectory this year, with their incredible debut album, ‘Into The Unfathomable Abyss’ available now on CD via Candlelight Records (Dry Cough Records and Burning World Records will be taking care of the vinyl release). The album was recorded at Skyhammer Studio with Chris Fielding (Primordial, Winterfylleth, Napalm Death, Electric Wizard), mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, Sunn O))), O.L.D.) and features exclusive artwork courtesy of Eric Harrison, bassist and vocalist of sludge legends Grief.
Ninkharsag, meanwhile, are quite possibly one of the finest black metal bands in the country right now. After the project’s humble beginnings as a one-man band back in 2009, Ninkharsag has since grown into a fully fledged band, and their 2013 7″ ‘The Essential Salts Of Human Dust’ (released through Ulthar Records) shows an enormous promise for such a young group.
