When it comes to comedians, there’s a small cohort of men and women that incorporate their love of heavy metal into their set. From the over-the-top antics of Jim Breuer to the insanely unique delivery of Brian Posehn, you know where they stand when it comes to loud, fast, and rude tunes.
One such dude is none other than New Jersey’s Don Jamieson, who you may recognize as a co-host of That Metal Show when that aired on VH1. Or you might know him these days from either his work on That Rocks over on YouTube with Eddie Trunk and Jim Florentine or his metal/comedy hybrid show That Jamieson Show. Either way, you probably know him if you enjoy laughing and banging your head in equal measure.
Since he’s got a new comedy album titled No Sleep ‘Til McSorley’s coming out tomorrow, we reached out to the heavy metal laugh maestro to get a feel on the comedy and metal tracks he feels haven’t gotten enough love over on Spotify.
So without belaboring the point of this whole thing even further, here’s 10 comedy and metal tracks you need to check out, courtesy of Don Jamieson.
First off, I want to say that all these tracks are excellent and should have well over 1,000 streams. After this article, these artists will undoubtedly surpass that mark and will soon be counting the millions they deserve!
Chris Covert — “Hairy Vagina” (Songs Gone Wrong)
Chris is a fellow New Jersey comic who combines music, comedy, and dirty jokes in the finest of ways. Call the kids in the room and crank it up!
Mark Riccadonna — “Not A Small Joke” (Drinks, Jokes & Storytelling)
Mark and I are known affectionately as ’The Evil Twins Of Comedy,’ as we were once doppelgängers back in our early days. One time, he was confronted by an angry woman at a comedy club who thought he was me. He actually had to show her ID so she didn’t kick his ass. I wish I knew what I did!
Courtney Cronin — “Sorry I Fucked Your Boyfriend” (Marilyn Martinez and Her Nasty Friends: Blow Job Season)
This one’s from 1999, hence the Girls Gone Wild reference, but it’s still funny and indeed nasty! Courtney is my writing partner on Punchlines & Backlines, where we have rock/metal musicians do stand-up comedy for the first time. We do these shows at rock festivals, cons, cruises, and trust me…you have not lived until you’ve seen Kip Winger do comedy!
KP Burke — “Drug And Emotional Support Dogs” (Escape From Jacksonville)
I’ve had very few proteges in the comedy business, but KP is one of them and he kicks ass on his very first stand-up CD. I should probably be collecting residuals on this with all the comedy wisdom I’ve imparted on him. KP, call me…

Vanderhoof — “Out Alive” (Vanderhoof)
Who knew Metal Church’s guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof had a side hustle doing semi-prog albums? This is one of my favorite albums overall and Kurdt is one of my favorite people regardless of the unnecessary “d” in his first name.
Crimson Butchery — “Super Illius Specula” (Repulsive Exhibition)
A delightful slab of bloody good death metal!
Cassius King — “As I Begin To Turn” (Dread The Dawn)
Jason McMaster (Dangerous Toys, Broken Teeth) has become the go-to fill-in metal guy as of late doing frontman duties in a pinch for both Armored Saint and Accept. My buddy Dan Lorenzo added him to his band Cassius King and the results speak for themselves (but in case they don’t…it fucking rules).
Broken Teeth — “Undertaker” (Evil In The Queue)
Speaking of Jason McMaster, this live track had to be included on the list. Jason comes alive on stage. Like Frampton Comes Alive but with a pair of steel balls and locomotive adrenaline.
