PUBLISHED:  Nov 19, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
This is 2 of 4 video dance compilations from performances by the Nashville International Folk Dancers, a recreational dance group in Nashville TN. For more information, our website is: NIFDdance.com. This video from 2009 features dances in conjunction with the Nashville Early Music Ensemble at Lipscomb University in Nashville with arrangements and conducting by the late Dr. Gerald Moore. NIFD dancers are joined by the dance group from Bowling Green, KY. The dances are as follows: Bavno Oro (from Macedonia, accordian by Nermin Begovic), Gavotte D'Honneur (from Brittany), Moja Diridika (from Croatia), Olahos ("Fox Dance" from Hungary), Korobushka (a Russian couples dance), Makedonsko Naradno (from Macedonia-featuring recorder by NIFD's Janet Epstein), and Rustemul (from Romania). The concert ends with an encore, the well-known Israeli dance, Zimer Atik, as the dancers invite volunteers from the audience to participate in the closing dance. In recent years, most NIFD dance performances conclude with one or more easy dances in which the audience is invited to join the fun.
