June 23 1929: Born on this day, June Carter Cash, beloved country singer and wife of Johnny Cash.

June 24 1944: Born on this day, Jeff Beck, a guitarist who has spanned genres ranging from blues-rock, heavy metal, jazz fusion and an additional blend of guitar-rock. Beside his own group, Jeff has been a member of The Yardbirds and Beck, Bogert & Appice. Happy 70th birthday Jeff!

June 25 1967: Following the Monterey Pop Festival, The Jimi Hendrix Experience gave a free afternoon concert in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. They then played another two shows that evening at the Fillmore West.

June 26 1965: The Byrds went to No. 1 on the US singles chart with their version of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man." Only Roger McGuinn from the band played on this track, with the rest of the instruments provided by the famous "Wrecking Crew."

June 27 1968: Elvis Presley taped a portion of his "comeback special" for NBC TV. This segment featured The King performing on a small, square stage, surrounded by a mostly female audience. Presley was outfitted in black leather and performed many of his early hits.

June 28 1969: Henry Mancini began a two week stay at No.1 on the US singles chart with "Love Theme from Romeo And Juliet."

June 29 1984: Bruce Springsteen started off the first leg of his Born in the USA Tour with a three night engagement at the St. Paul Civic Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. Springsteen would play a total of 156 shows ending on October 2, 1985 in Los Angeles at the Coliseum.
