This is the complete performance of the 3rd Movement of Kaikhosru Sorabji’s Symphony No 2 ‘Jâmî’ (1942-1951). Click "show more" below for detailed information.

It is accompanied by a full commentary which consists of a factual/prosaic description of the music as it progresses intermingled with text about, and quotes from, Sorabji as well as a technical description of how the performance was created. The performance was created using Sibelius notation software and the Vienna Symphonic Library.

Permission was kindly given by professor Marc-André Roberge to use material from his seminal work on Sorabji ‘Opus Sorabjianum’ which can be downloaded for free from https://roberge.mus.ulaval.ca/srs/07-prese.htm#download. Permission was also kindly given by Alistair Hinton of the Sorabji Archive to use text from Sorabji’s two published books of essays ‘Mi Contra Fa’ and ‘Around Music’.
