Last Singing Cowboy - Vern Gosdin Tribute ORIGINAL
In honor of my dear friend that just passed. I will miss him so much. The legend, the Voice. Nobody was like you Vern. You will be greatly missed and my tears have already started to fall. No song can truly do you justice but I did my best with this one while you wre still alive and your apprentice said you liked it which really brought me great pleasure. I will really miss you. I still owe you lunch Vern. May God Bles you and your family during this terrible time. One of my original songs. I wrote this song after meeting Vern and being impressed with so much. Vern Gosdin was the first country artist I met. He impressed me in many ways and I realized with the pop of today's country, that he was one of the last singing cowboys. I wrote the song. Then, back shelved it. Later I had Randy Shaffer take a look at it and we completed it together. I can't wait to have a final finished product but for now here is the product pre-produced:)

LYRICS:
The last singing cowboy He walks in the room, A few fans applaud, He smiles and sits down in his chair He orders a cold one, says the day's been a hard one and he wonders if anyone cares He don't think the band that's playing's gonna make it And when he thinks on how the times have changed, Lord he can hardly take it CHORUS Well he's the last singing cowboy All done with riding the range Dressed in his boots and his blue jeans You used to all know his name Now he sits home alone with his guitar by his side And plays his old songs into the deep of the night He just lives a simple life He's the last singing cowboy His life was the show, the Voice was the star, and he knew how to play the part But if you pay close attention, his songs always mention, the toll the road took on his heart Well he still takes the fans requests for all their favorites And if you ask about regrets he'd say that he would never change it CHORUS Well he's the last singing cowboy All done with riding the range Dressed in his boots and his blue jeans You used to all know his name Now he sits home alone with his guitar by his side And plays his old songs into the deep of the night He just lives a simple life He's the last singing cowboy MUSICAL BREAK He's the last singing cowboy All done with riding the range Dressed in his boots and his blue jeans You used to all know all know his name Now he sits home alone with his guitar by his side And plays his old songs into the deep of the night He just lives a simple life He's the last singing cowboy Ooooooo Mmmmm The last singing cowboy

Now I will explain the lyrics a little.
I talk about the band a little because when I first met Vern it was with a man named Gerald Murray who was then managing him. We went to a restaurant an people went to Vern and asked for autographs. Vern was gracious and kind. The band was good but there was something about Vern that seemed he didn't like the new style as much and I thought he didn't think they would make it. He was going to sing and took a request from a fan. He loves his fans. He still loves to sing and is hopefully going to get out soon from what the folks at his youtube channel said. I sure hope so. I'd sure love to get a chance to sing with him. He is an all time great. The voice after all. He likely always was a simple man regardless so that is why I said what I did in the chorus. I was impressed. What else would spark such a song? This is meant to honor the man I met. I sure hope he sees it that way.
Thanks for watching, listening and reading and supporting my music and channel.
