Another of my favorite love songs. The words are so true. These are the things that really matter in a relationship, in L-O-V-E. When I sang, "Feels Like Home" I indicated that this was what I hoped to feel in what I consider to be a perfect relationship, which is true. Well, THIS song, "Give Me You" indicates what I need "FROM a Man" in what I consider to be a perfect relationship. I will again include the lyrics. For those of you who have not heard the song before because you are not R&B fans or for whatever reasons, Mary J. Blige is an absolutely incredible singer. I tend to put a little country into my R&B and a little R&B into my country so my version is not the same as hers. I spent the first half of my life listening to R&B and when I moved back to Tucson Arizona in 1992 there was no good R&B station like in the Bay Area so I listened to Kiim FM country and listened to only country and classic rock for the 13 years I lived there again before I left to Denver then L.A.. Now I listen to both and all genres again. So this isn't exactly like anyone's version. It is likely unique and has some "blues notes" as JR calls them as my emotions in the song altered the notes a bit and I did not hit them straight on. I was tempted to change it to perfection but I sometimes go for emotion as opposed to perfect notes as in the blues. Being a perfectionist this is not easy to do because I want to hit everything perfectly but I want to drive the emotion home more than I want the perfect note. I love blues singers for this. So I suppose we can add blues into this mix as well as country and R&B. I hope you like.
