Julia Haltigan & The Hooligans: Can't Run Away @ Bowery Electric, 1/15/10 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 08, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
Julia Haltigan and The Hooligans were the middle act on a bill of three, sandwiched between opening group The Bones Royal (hence the name on the bass drum in the video that Hooligan drummer Steve Williams is kicking) and headliners The Nouvellas (whose performance videos are also available on this YouTube channel ) on a night hosted by guest DJ Nicole Atkins at the Bowery Electric in Manhattan on January 15, 2010. Before I zoomed in with my inherently defective Kodak Zi8 and darkness unnaturally engulfed everyone who wasn't Julia, one could see bassist Bennet Huxley Miller thumping out the predominating part that segues into the first verse of "Can't Run Away." The upright and his hand obscure his face, so if you want a better look at him, view the video for the song, "I Missed The Day I Met You," seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8JH9JqygG0
Bennett also has another band called New World Order, and you can listen to it here: http://www.myspace.com/neworldordermusic
Rounding out the darkness-enshrouded Hooligans is Gerald Menke working the Telecaster (guitar) and Julia's father Emmet on mandolin.
