Julia Haltigan & The Hooligans: Goodbye Cowboys & Rocket Men @ 11st Bar, 12/15/09 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 08, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
Here Julia sings her wonderful song, "Goodbye Cowboys & Rocket Men," backed by her equally wonderful band, named "The Hooligans." You can catch Julia's show just about every Tuesday night at the 11th st Bar in New York City. The Hooligans are Steve Williams on drums, Bennett Huxley Miller on upright bass, Gerald Menke on pedal steel guitar and electric guitar, Joe Ancowitz on trumpet and background and harmony vocals, Sam Feldman on electric guitar, and Julia's father, Emmet Haltigan on mandolin and harmonica. Sam and Joe aren't in this video, as Sam platoons with Gerald, and the song didn't require Joe's trumpet or vocals. The 11st Bar wasn't well lit during this video, so only Julia and Gerald are seen. Actually, Steve is lit, but he is situated behind Julia, so you don't see him much. Over to the viewer's right, hiding in the shadows are Bennett and Emmet, with Emmet working the mandolin for this song. In case you are wondering why the video goes dark every time I zoom in, it is because the Kodak Zi8 is inherently flawed in this regard. It was not just my camcorder, it is the entire model. Kodak never fixed the bug. I actually began to notice the problem WHILE I shot THIS video. To make a long story short, I no longer have the cam, as I traded it for a full refund from Kodak.
