IAMX live and 'The Unified Field' review - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Hello everyone it's Adam Roxby here and in this video I'm going to be giving you my thoughts on the amazing IAMX live show i attended and the new IAMX album; 'The Unified Field'

IAMX is the solo project of British born Chris Corner; former lead singer of the Sneaker Pimps.

His music has been described as 'Dark cabaret' and to really benefit from the whole experience you need to see him live.

So I didn't take a huge amount of video really for two reasons.

1) I only had my phone with me so the quality wasn't going to be amazing and ...

2) I didn't want to be one of thoses people that spends the whole concert with their arm in the air. I saw a fair bit of that and I was with friends to enjoy myself.

But I will share with you what I have and give you my thoughts afterwards.

---------------

Well I hope you can get from that just a sense of how great it was.

The gig started with a warm up from MotoBoy. A Swedish artist who seams to specialise in this sort of dreamy pop. He came out with a rather nice track to start with and really showed the audience he could sing but unfortunately the rest was a bit too much of the same and he was also let down by some rather annoying distortion on the bass.

By thank you IAMX for introducing me to some new music. I'll certainly check out some more.

IAMX eventually came on albeit it a tad late and as you can see it was full of energy. They played a mix of some of the old favs like 'Spit it Out', 'Cold Red Light' and 'President' as well as some of the suff from the new album but I will get into that in a bit.

Now I have noticed something about the fans who attend these gigs. Chris holds some strange almost cult like power over them and while there is interaction both ways with the band and the audience; Chris clearly is revered.

But that just adds to the sexual, emotional mysterysm of IAMX.

So it was an awesome show, one of the best I have been to in a while and if they are coming to a city near you then get out there, you'll have a fantastic time.

-------------

It was while I was there that I got the brand new album 'The Unified Field'.

Each album from IAMX has a distinct flavour.

Also, just to let you know where I am coming from, some of my favourite tracks are the afore mentioned 'Spit it Out', 'Missile' and 'Kiss and Swallow'.

This album differs from other IAMX albums in that is was part of this new wave of independent artist using crowd funding to make the production possible. It is also an album that has had more involvement with other collaborators but still every track is written by Chris as an assurance of quality.

So once again Chris Corner with IAMX has proven to be a chameleon in crafting an unique album of beauty. It may not have the instant punch and accessible appeal of his other works but like all masterpieces of our art your love develops stronger and stronger after each exposure.

It is a testament to his skill how he is able to craft songs which seem to have such a personal meaning to everybody so I would be really interested to hear how these tracks have affected you and what they mean for you.

Be sure to let me know however you want to, I hope you enjoyed this video review and as always I'll speak to you all again really soon.
