DESCRIPTION:
This is the video of both songs, danced together as one piece. We wanted to reflect upon the theme of "Resolution", using the second song, Doyna, to resolve the first.

As our first performance together - and Mona's first partner performance! - we were a bit nervous in the opening "Pasional", but well, that happened to work out on multiple levels for a song that was intended to set up tension and distance between the dancers ;)
"Doyna" resolves that tension. I am delighted by what came out of that process. It is a fitting conclusion and resolution of the artistic theme; the physical performance's quirks; and the short but intense journey with Mona to make something together.

Oh, and a "doina", I now know (but did not when I chose it!) is a specially Romanian musical style. It is a simple improvised tune, sung or played by shepherds in solitude, "to ease one's soul".
