Broadway - Rob Blackledge

The text is something like this i think:
She was the girl who ran the spotlight
Her heart was on the stage,
Nobody ever got to hear her lines
But she sang them anyway,
Knew that someday

She wanted Broadway
Underneath the light
She wanted encores
The end of every night
She planned to keep on singing
When the audience was done
This wasn't Broadway

but close enough

She was the girl who found the spotlight,
The arms of cheating men,
Yeeaah
She finally got a chance to sing and dance
But it wasn't what she meant
She said

She wanted Broadway
Underneath the lights
She wanted encores
This just wasn't right
She planned to keep on singing
When the audience was done
This wasn't Broadway

When the plans it didn't pin out
When her heart was left out on the ground
When the song didn't play in her key
But she kept on singing
And they didn't follow her script
Words that were left on her lips
And burried along the way,

She snuck in late one night
Climbed up to that old spotlight
Laughed that some things never change
Looking back at the message she made
Tragedy was a role that she'd always play
The spotlight
It burst in the flames
So she torched the place

She wanted Broadway
Underneath the light
This was the wrong cord
Ohh And it finally felt right
Ohh she planned to keep on singing,
And the audience was touched,
This wasn't Broadway
This wasn't Broadway
But close enough,
