"I don't pretend to be pretty, sometimes I tend to talk dirty, I can be country or city.welcome to my world."-- from "Take It Or Leave It" by Josh Hoge

Much like his hometown of Nashville, singer Josh Hoge represents Music City's competing spirits of tradition and rebellion. In a town widely known for the tradition of country music, there's no denying that Hoge has f ound a way to combine that with some rock, pop and soul to make up his new, yet original sound. Spend some time with his music and you'll hear and feel the collision of these musical styles that shapes him, and you'll see the rebellious heart in the tradition of legendary Nashville mavericks.
Hoge began his musical journey working in the mailroom for DreamWorks Nashville in 2000. He spent 5 years around the music industry until he finally decided to make a break for a career as a singer himself. He mo ved to Los Angeles to chase a music dream and also a relatioship that ended up turning sour quickly. While in LA, Hoge did become friends with hitmaker Ne-Yo, where they together would write a handful of songs. After deciding to trek back home to Nashville, Hoge came armed with some new songs to heal his pain. He shortly after was signed to Epic Records, and recorded his first album. The album did spawn his first charted single "360", but shakeups at the label led to the record failing to be released and Hoge parting ways with the label. He soon after found himself touring about 200 dates a year, and released the critically acclaimed "Bedroom Sessions" EP that was recorded over a few days in Hoges bedroom. In 2008, Hoge was signed to the upstart Blackledge Music where he recorded his first released studio album "Everything She Was". Hoge cowrote 10 of the 11 songs on the album that was produced by Marshall Altman, and he worked with the likes of hitmakers Ne-Yo, Ryan Tedder, Dave Barnes, Ashley Gorley, Drew Ramsey & Shannon Sanders. Hoge has been the poster boy for a true grassroots/touring musician, playing an average of 175 shows a year, and selling more than 30,000 records out of his van in just a short 3 year span.
In 2011, Hoge entered the studio with Marshall Altman again, where he is currently working on his next release. He has decided for this next release to travel a little more in the "down home/southern" kinda vibe, and get back to his true Nashville roots. Hoge has currently been writing with some of the biggest hitmakers Nashville has to offer.
Hoge is not only is an artist, but has also written or appeared on songs for the likes of Backstreet Boys, Jesse Mccartney, Elliott Yamin, Lupe Fiasco, Blake Lewis, Chris Richardson, Anoop Desai, Dave Barnes, Matt Wertz and Ernie Halter.
