Born and raised in the Central San Joaquin Valley, Richard has been performing as a working musician up and down the coast of California and most recently as a solo singer/songwriter. Richard's first CD "Mile After Mile" garnered much critical praise and attention in Europe, Australia, Canada and the US, winning awards and chart topping radio airplay that has continued for years even after it's 1998 release date. Richard's 2nd independent release, "This Winter's Chill" has drawn comparisons to some of our greatest comtemporary songwriters including: Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen & Steve Forbert. Richard has a unique vocal presence and an original and intelligent gift for songwriting. He has already written hundreds of songs, making him one of the more prolific songwriters out there today.

Currently working on his third independent release, the new CD promises to be a mixture of interesting rhythms and inspired storytelling. "The new CD is a bit of a departure. Rhythmically, the new CD has taken on some direction that is new for me and I am really having fun with it. I am certainly stretching vocally and enjoying the inspirational quality I am working to infuse into this CD lyrically. I have always been fond of stories of the human struggle."

This has been a busy year for Richard. As well as working on a new music CD release, Richard has also recently released a CD of the Guided Mindfullness Meditation he uses in the work that he does with those in the early stages of addiction recovery. The CD is a beautiful and peaceful guide for allowing attention to the moment. "So often our thoughts will carry us away from our appreciation of the moment, which can contribute to our stress and anxiety." The CD is available for purchase at www.RichardBurr.com and CDBaby.com.

The new CD is titled Avenue 256. It features 12 new tracks and a cover of the Bob Dylan classic "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right". Background vocals are provided by Teresa James, who has worked with many great vocalists including Bonnie Raitt. The artwork and the licensing are being finalized now and the CD itself should be out by early summer. Richard began working on this project in 2006, right at the same time his guided meditation career began to take off. He has been juggling the two ever since, spending as much time with each as possible. The process of picking which songs would be put on this CD and the actual mixing started in September of 2008. He had recorded 25 songs in total, but realized that it would be best to just release some of them for now and hold back some others for a later time. Family circumstances along with some financial woes have been intervening as well since early 2009, but now things have settled and the focus is back on getting this music out to the public.
