"Is Sorry Enough" - by Murray Porter and Elaine Bomberry - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 16, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Murray Porter, Aboriginal musician and a Juno Award winner, and Elaine Bomberry wrote this song after Prime Minister Harper on behalf of the Federal Government of Canada apologized to the residential school victims.

After sharing this song with the motorcyclists at the annual Salmon Run Motorcycle Rally in Squamish, he shared this song at the Columbia theatre in New Westminster.

Murray had a bicycle accident a few days before this day. He was trying to avoid hitting a squirrel and fell over his handlebar. (Damm Chipmunk! LOL) Just an hour before this performance, Murray was hurting so much that he needed help to get up. However, this performance demonstrates that he is empowered by his love of music and the audience.

This is the type of grassroots support that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission wanted for its national event in Vancouver during the week of Sept. 18 - 21, 2013.

Sorry is not enough. We just can't expect victims to "get over it". We need to go over it, uncover the painful truth, apologize meaningfully, seek forgiveness, and then come together to share a meal in the spirit of reconciliation - before we can "get over it".
