Murray Porter is Mohawk, Turtle Clan, born and raised on the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in southern Ontario. Porter sums himself up best in his song "Colours" where we hear the refrain, "I'm a red man, singing the black man's blues, living in a white man's world." His taste developed early when at the age of 11 he heard B.B. King on the radio singing "The Thrill is Gone."
